New E-Visa Service for Travellers

Visitors to Kenya will be able to apply for entry visas in advance online via a dedicated portal at ecitizen.go.ke from July 2nd 2015.

Intending visitors to Kenya need to log on the e-citizen website and register as a visitor. Once logged in, click on the Department of Immigration button and submit application after which the applicant can select visa type and pay for the visa application fee using Visa Card, MasterCard or any other debit card.

An approval email will be sent to the user and once printed, the e-visa (printout) can be presented to immigration officers at the port of entry

Travellers will also have the option to buy their visa on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta international airport in Nairobi, in person at their local Embassy/Consulate or via the online portal for a two-month transitionary period.

The e-visa process will then become compulsory from September 1st 2015.

Visitors are being advised by Kenya’s tourist office to register their application well in advance of travel as approvals may take up to seven days to process.

A single entry tourist visa to Kenya costs US$ 50.00 and is valid for three months.
